Design Lab

Exploring new horizons

Afrouz Razavi Design Lab is a dedicated space for exploring the intersections of design, education, and community engagement. Our work focuses on key areas such as intervention in public and urban spaces, experimental design processes, and the systematic creation of visual identities for diverse purposes. By bridging these disciplines, we aim to push the boundaries of what design can achieve, creating meaningful, innovative solutions that address both functional and aesthetic challenges.

The Lab serves as a platform to experiment with new ideas, test creative hypotheses, and apply design thinking across various scales. Whether it’s reimagining urban environments, developing participatory projects with local communities, or crafting cohesive identity systems, the Lab is a space where creativity meets purpose. Guided by these principles, we engage in three primary activities:

  •  research and experimentation
  •  academic collaborations ( in France and
    on interantional board )
  •  and participatory workshops.

1. Research & experimentation

Exploring innovative design ideas

For designers, having a space for research and experimentation is essential to develop new ideas and explore unique perspectives. Our Lab focuses on supporting independent and experimental projects that allow designers and researches to test innovative concepts and expand their creative horizons.
For this purpus, we are open to collaborations with design networks, studios, collectives, associations, as well as public and urban centers that require design and visual communication solutions.

2. Collaborations with universities and academic centers

Shaping creative academic journeys

Afrouz Razavi work closely with universities, design schools and french-international graphic design students to introduce them to new perspectives and approaches in design. Through workshops, masterclasses, and bachelor-level courses, she helps students refine their skills and engage with design challenges they may not have encountered before. This collaboration opens doors to bold and experimental projects while fostering professional growth.
Afrouz has already designed and conducted dozens of workshops and lectures both in France and on international board such as China, Italy, and United States.
The workshops have covered a range of topics, including environmental graphics, scenography design, visuel identity , signage systems, circular design, dat visualization, social and environmental design, etc.

3- Participatory & collaborative workshops

Designing together with communities

Our Lab also hosts participatory and collaborative workshops focused on social design, urban projects and public spaces. These workshops bring together residents, children, and citizens from different neighborhoods to work on specific design projects. They aim to teach design thinking and co-creation principles, engaging participants of all ages and backgrounds, in meaningful and creative problem-solving processes.
We design as well creative and design courses tailored for various age groups of students in schools and high schools. Through workshops, we explore these topics with them, fostering their skills and creativity.
